Content How to - Use Image Asset Management

Playbook Designers can now upload assets and use them in all digital communications. Platform users require image asset support for one or more images, so being able to provide tools that make it easy to add images across communication channels is a necessary requirement. Image requirements will vary by layout or design so we offer support with outline image recommendations, like image size or format.

  • Using images is a great way to represent brand

  • When clients are creating content they want to use images so that their customers see elements they recognize, ultimately increasing the possibility of them engaging with the content.

Image Asset Management

Description

What’s New

Images can now be uploaded directly within an image block. Once uploaded, these images will remain and be available for use across all content builders. This central asset management repository will enable the quick upload and use of images in multiple pieces of content.

What’s Removed

There will no longer be support for using external image URLs within an image block. Images must be uploaded through the image block and selected for use.

What’s Changed

Images are now uploaded and available for use across content. Image URLs are no longer the method for using images within image blocks and our DevOps team is no longer involved in supporting the upload of hosted images for clients.

NOTE: To ensure the best user experience and that Playbook Designers have access to use all metadata related to the image, the recommended path is to re-upload all images that referenced external image URLs and were not uploaded previously to Symend-hosted database.

NOTE: There are some image asset management restrictions:

  • Image size cannot be more than 5MB in size

  • Files uploaded must be a supported image type (PNG and JPEG are supported right now)

  • File signature must match with the image type (for example, if someone renamed .TXT file to .PNG, the Platform upload will not accept the file)

How to Use Image Asset Management

When you are building assets into your Playbook Communications, you want to use them within a content block. This feature allows you to upload an asset within the content builder and then use it within a content block.

  • Navigate to Content and select the type to add (Email or Landing Page)

  • Add a section

  • Add a content block

  • Add an image block

  • Select the desired image for upload

  • Upload a new image if you want to add more into your organization's library

  • Select and upload your own image for use in image block
NOTE: Images will automatically appear sorted alphabetically by name from A-Z

  • NOTE: The Platform will generate the link for where the image is located. You can see this when you mouseover the image

  • Set the "Alternate text", which will display if the image is unavailable or doesn't render properly on the customer's email or browser

  • NOTE: You can set additional properties for the image or use the Platform defaults

    • Alignment - if the default image should be centered, left-justified, or right-justified

    • Left/Right and Top/Bottom Padding - the white space around each image when it's used in an image block

    • Max Height/Width (optional) - you can set the max the image will display in a responsive browser or email client. This should be a percent of the image size or the pixel size (for example 300px width)

  • Metadata includes image height, image width, name, etc.

  • Data is stored locally and gives additional context about the image and defaults to height and width properties of the image when used in an image block. This helps you identify the image correctly.

  • NOTE: You may have two images that are the exact same look but are of different sizes. If you have not named them to identify them, you can use the metadata to distinguish them. The image block is also set-up to help you with some useful defaults. It will automatically adjust the max height and max width properties based off of the metadata of the image.

  • Click the Use in Image Block button to set the image into your email or landing page.
NOTE: This image will be available in your organization's library for use in any other communication channel.

  • Click the Save button to add the image within the image block area
