What is the Standard Monitoring Dashboard

The standard monitoring dashboard consists of:

  • Detailed Ingest Metrics

  • Customer Update Metrics

  • Detailed Export Metrics

As the Symend Configurator or the Organization Administrator, I want to be able to see that my coworkers and I have configured the system properly and that our tests and product operations are running smoothly and as expected.  In order to do this I want to see some of the basic metrics of data that run through the system and ensure it matches my expectations.

This monitor will be especially helpful within the early days of processing and whenever changes are made to our process/system. but I may also revisit the page and view a larger time frame to review any unexpected problems or see our general operation numbers.

How is the Standard Monitoring Dashboard used?

This will be viewable on 2 pages of the dashboard. One for imports and one for exports.  Additional monitoring pages will follow in the future.

I first want to select a time frame I am interested in this allows me to narrow or expand my results to a window that I know the general actions that have happened within it. The user can select a range and this time range is selected to the hour. This will default to 1 day prior on entry to the page

Import Metrics

Show the following for the time range selected:

  • Failed Records indicates the number of line items/ individual records that failed to ingest into the application, this could be records on existing customers that failed to update or on new customers that failed to insert.

  • Records causing existing customer updates are the successful updates of accounts that were already in the system

  • Records causing new customers to be created are the successful inserts for accounts where the unique ID was not found for any existing customers in the application. (An extremely high or low number here may indicate the Unique ID is incorrectly mapped)

  • Imports are files that have arrived within the time range and been ingested or attempted to be, it provides the time the file was first detected/ingest started, the size of the file, the success or failure and any detail (most commonly, the detail will apply to a failure reason)

Export Metrics

Show the following for the time range selected:

Exports: These are Exports that have been generated within the time range and been sent or attempted to be, it provides the time the export reached the final status (success or failure), the number of records within the file, the success or failure and any detail (most commonly, the detail will apply to a failure reason)
